Both Mark and Bob share the same message and goal of “striving to keep manufacturing in the United States and to create and save American jobs.” For 107 years, Wigwam has kept its factory in the states and is on its way to being a 4th generation – family owned business. In addition, Bob Chesebro lobbies in Washington D.C. for programs that limit the quantity of products allowed to be imported while still pursuing fair trade policies with other countries.

Our Spring Promotion For ABC Discs will run May 12th through May 18th!

 

So what exactly is Disc Golf or “Frolf”? Disc Golf takes the characteristic of golf (Scoring and how the mechanics are played) but uses a disc instead of a ball and club. Usually you can find Disc Golf courses in local and national parks. Each course has 18 holes and has starting markers based on individual skills. The Goal is pictured below.

This is a goal in the game of Disc Golf. A metal pole with chains hanging from it and a basket. The idea is to throw your disc and the chains will stop the disc, where it will drop into the basket!

The main goal is to get your disc into the basket. The point system is just like golf, where each basket has a Par. (Par means how many throws you have to get into the basket. So if one goal has a Par 4 and it takes you 3 throws to get your disc into the basket, your score is -1. which is pretty good! If it takes you 5 throws, your score is +1. This how you keep score in both golf and Disc Golf.)

Thanks for visiting ABC Discs. I’ll give you a bit of insight into our company, the reason we have opened for business, a quick glance at our opening discs and our plans for the future. We hope you can be a part of our plans!

ABC Discs, Inc. has been established to bring to the public the finest in disc golf equipment. I have been a disc golfer since July of 1986, all the while loving the game and the people who play it. Although I may never be a top-rated pro player, playing disc golf tournaments gives me great pleasure, fulfilling my competitive, athletic and social needs. Although all these needs have been met, I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Owning and marketing a disc golf company will finally bring an end to the career search I never quite decided upon.

ABC Discs intends to further bring the sport of disc golf to the world. Many companies have come before us and have done a wonderful job creating and distributing disc golf equipment. We are grateful for all their work and efforts. At this point, more companies will be needed to fulfill the growing needs of our sport. We are enjoying the largest explosion in history in both courses and players and we need more distributors and marketers. ABC Discs will help satisfy this growing need!

We intend to open with five discs. We will have three drivers, a midrange, and a putter. Our first discs to hit the market will be a very long range driver. It will be closely followed by a straight driver and a turnover driver. Our midrange disc will serve as the catalyst for short putts. Our putter will give all the score-shaving opportunity we need. Names of our discs will be out soon.

We very much look forward to being an integral part of the expansion of the finest sport ever played. We have set goals intended for both the professional and recreational player. We want every boy and girl, man and woman throughout the globe to have the opportunity to try disc golf. We intend for the professional players to finally stop playing for each other’s money, enabling them to actually make a career out of playing this fine sport.

At 1776 Feet Above New York City…

After twelve years of rebuilding, One World Trade Center has officially been constructed. The monstrous building scales 1,776 feet tall, calling recognition to the year that America signed the Declaration of Independence.

“This really is a symbolic moment because this building really represents the resiliency of this country,” said Port Authority Vice Chair Scott Rechler.

 

The very top of the tower is equipped with 288, 50-watt LED lights that can be seen 50 miles away on a clear day! It is also the tallest building on the western hemisphere. The antenna on top will also serve as a world-class broadcasting tool!

Mark & Dan Andol (Owner and Vice President respectively) are officially making their way back from this year’s victorious National Hardware Show in Las Vegas! What’s so victorious about it?

 

The Made In America Store was awarded for having the Best Display and for the Most Innovative Idea! Congratulations team!

 

Over 2,000 different companies showed up to display and advertise their products and services. No, that isn’t a typo. Officially 2726 vendors showed up to participate. The event brought companies from all over to bring manufactures of home-related products including Hardware, Tools, Home-wares, Lawn & Garden, Outdoor Living, Plumbing, Electrical, Storage & Organization, Tailgate Products, Building Products, Farm & Ranch, Inventor’s Spotlight, Paint & Accessories, and Pet products! Hopefully this gives you SOME idea on how big this actually is!

Another thing to mention is that the National Hardware Show isn’t open to the public, but more for companies looking to get new products out. For example, Catalog Order Companies, Wholesalers, Distributors, and Import/Export companies are a few.

 

This year was the first year that the National Hardware Show decided to open a “Made In America” section at the event. You can see why this was right down our alley! Over 150 different vendors showed up specifically to show off their American made wares. Along with some of our best selling items, we decided to spotlight our Steel Fire Rings. 100% American made fire rings, that will last decades.

Last year around this time we officially announced our first 100% U.S. made alcoholic beverage, McKenzies Hard Cider. At the time, McKenzie’s brought Original Cider, Black Cherry Cider, and Green Apple Cider! Today, they have introduced Fall Seasonal Cider and a new Lemonade Cider. Soon after McKenzie’s was brought in, we introduced Pennsylvania’s Yuengling Beer as our first 100% American made beer in our store! Jam In The Valley is a multiple day concert event that brings big name Country Music Artists to one location during the 4th of July weekend. The Western New York Area is known nationally for a lot of things. Chicken wings, The Niagara Falls, the Goo Goo Dolls and KanJam will soon be a national game! KanJam is incredibly easy to set up, and even easier to play. The Made In America Store is proud to be an outlet that carries the Kan Jam  lawn game.

So how do you play Kan Jam? KanJam consists of one flying disc and two scoring containers that serve as goals. The official distance between to the two goals is 50 feet. However, you can adjust the distance based on your liking or skill. With the “Instant Win” slots facing each other, you’re ready to play!

The object of the game is to reach a score of 21 without going over. Players can score points by throwing the Frisbee towards their goal or teammate and based on how the disc lands, is given a score. If the disc is assisted by the teammate and hits the side of the goal, that is one point. If the player can throw the disc and hits the goal without any assistance from the teammate, that is two points. If a player throws the disc and their teammate hits the disc into the top hole into the goal, it counts as three points. There is a slot cut into the goal on the side and if a player can throw their disc into the slot without any assistance, it is consider a game winner or an “Instant Win!“

Charles Sciandra and Mitch Rubin, the two who created the KanJam game, started back in the mid 1990’s when a few guys started throwing Frisbees at an old banged up metal garbage can for fun. When Sciandra met up with an old friend, Paul Swisher, with the idea to start the disc tossing game, both were very skeptical anything would come of their idea. With the odds against them, as only a third of one percent of all patent ideas will ever make it to the market, the two decided to make the investment into the KanJam game.

“KanJam is the perfect indoor or outdoor activity and encourages exercise, improved coordination skills and friendly competition without physical contact,” says the makers of KanJam, Charles Sciandra.

What started as something to do to pass the time turned into one of the greatest party games known to outside enthusiasts. KanJam can be seen at backyard parties, parks, playgrounds, beaches, gymnasiums, camping trips and even while tailgating. The KanJam game isn’t limited to one kind of terrain.

After a few production and patent hurdles were cleared when they added the “Instant Win” slot into the goal, the KanJam patent was passed after 13 months. After the patent had passed, Sciandra needed to find a material that was affordable, durable and it had to easily mobile. Time and time again Sciandra met with problems when he couldn’t find a material to fit what was needed until he stumbled upon a piece of linoleum in his own basement. Sciandra then realized a heavier piece of plastic like linoleum was durable, didn’t cost a lot and could easily be cut to make the KanJam.

A big reason the Made In America Store had picked up the KanJam game to sell on their shelves is because all the components used to make the KanJam game are made here, in the United States. American made toys and other recreational products are few and far between. KanJam is a perfect example of how someone can start a business here in America and support the economy by manufacturing their product using American components.

Just three years ago, the Made in America Store in Elma, NY, opened its doors as the first store in the nation to exclusively sell American-made products. It is still the only store with the 100% American Made guarantee, making it the leader of the “Buy American” movement that has swept the country.

 

So, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate…which is just what owner Mark Andol, his family, staff and legions of loyal customers plan to do!

 

As with every special event at the Made in America Store, this April 27th celebration will feature family friendly attractions, including live entertainment by Nashville recording artist Ricky Lee.

 

Other highlights include Dale’s “Rollin’ Smoke” BBQ, Maple View Alpacas and the chainsaw artistry of Matt Hannah of Insane Chain.

 

Plus, the 13th Annual Food Bank Run will kick-off at the Made in America Store, beginning with a registration at 10a.m.

 

This celebration follows the grand opening of our newest Made In America Store location in Niagara Falls at One Niagara. April 20th, 2013, the Made In America Store officially opened their second store location in Niagara Falls, New York. The nation’s first 100% U.S. Manufactured souvenir shop in one of the 7 Wonders of the World has officially opened!

The media almost seemed more excited than we were! The Made In America Store team was in full attendance as Niagara Falls and New York State presented us with both an official ribbon cutting and a few awards for our commitment to U.S. manufacturing! Local news media, WGRZ Channel 2,  WKBW Channel 7, and YNN Buffalo made their way to the grand opening. Some local dignitaries also showed up including former Mayor of Lewiston Dick Soluri and Niagara County Legislature Chairman William Ross! Even some of New York State Congressman Brian Higgins, New York State Assemblyman John Ceretto, and Senator George Maziarz Representative Katie Alexandria!
